◆ 도지사·교육감 충혼탑 참배

충북도내 기관·단체가 2026년 첫 근무일인 2일 충혼탑을 일제히 참배하며 새해 업무를 시작했다.

김영환 충북지사는 간부 공무원과 함께 청주시 청원구 오창읍 중앙근린공원 충혼탑을 찾아 순국선열과 호국영령의 넋을 기렸다. 김 지사는 도청 대회의실에서 시무식을 열고 신년 화두 '한·가·온·길'을 발표했다. 이는 대한민국 한가운데서 가치의 진정한 의미를 통해 온 도민과 함께 꿈을 완성해 나가는 길을 열겠다는 의미다. 김 지사는 "2026년은 충북이 창조·도전·실행을 기반으로 더 담대한 혁신의 길로 나아가자"고 당부했다.

윤건영 충북도교육감은 간부 공무원과 함께 오창 충혼탑에서 신년 참배를 진행했다. 윤 교육감은 월례조회에서 '온지성실(溫知誠實)'을 화두로 밝혔다. 이는 따뜻한 마음으로 배우고 진심으로 행한다는 의미다. 윤 교육감은 "실용과 포용의 충북교육으로 나아가겠다"고 강조했다.

◆ 시군 단체장 새해 다짐

이범석 청주시장은 충혼탑 신년 참배에 이어 청주예술의전당에서 시무식을 진행했다. 이 시장은 "순국선열의 숭고한 정신을 본받아 청주시가 대한민국에서 가장 살기 좋은 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.

조길형 충주시장을 비롯한 도내 시군 단체장도 이날 충혼탑 참배와 시무식을 통해 새로운 도약과 발전을 다짐했다.

◆ 여야 정당 지방선거 필승 결의

도내 주요 정당도 충혼탑을 참배하며 지방선거 필승을 결의했다.

더불어민주당 충북도당 이광희 위원장과 이강일·이연희·송재봉 국회의원, 주요 당직자, 청주권 지방의원은 오창 충혼탑에서 참배행사를 진행했다. 이 위원장은 "오늘의 대한민국은 수많은 희생과 헌신 위에 서 있다"며 "도민과 국민의 삶을 지키는 정치로 보답하겠다"고 밝혔다.

국민의힘 충북도당 엄태영 위원장과 이양섭 충북도의장, 김현기 청주시의장, 주요 당직자도 오창 충혼탑을 참배하고 지방선거 승리 각오를 다졌다. 국민의힘 충북도당은 오는 7일부터 4주간 출마예정자 대상 정치 아카데미를 열고 지방선거 새인물 찾기에 나선다.

◆ Governor and Superintendent Visit Memorial Tower

Chungbuk provincial organizations paid respects at memorial towers on January 2, the first working day of 2026.

Chungbuk Governor Kim Young-hwan visited Chunghon Tower at Jungang Neighborhood Park in Ochang-eup, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju with senior officials to honor patriotic martyrs and war heroes. Governor Kim held a New Year ceremony at the provincial office and announced 'Han-ga-on-gil' as the New Year theme. This signifies opening a path to complete dreams with all provincial residents through the true meaning of values at the center of Korea. Governor Kim urged, "In 2026, Chungbuk should move toward a bolder path of innovation based on creation, challenge, and execution."

Chungbuk Superintendent of Education Yoon Geon-young paid New Year respects at Ochang Chunghon Tower with senior officials. Superintendent Yoon announced 'Onjiseongshil (溫知誠實)' as the theme at the monthly assembly. This means learning with a warm heart and acting with sincerity. Superintendent Yoon emphasized, "We will advance toward practical and inclusive Chungbuk education."

◆ City and County Heads Make New Year Pledges

Cheongju Mayor Lee Beom-seok held a New Year ceremony at Cheongju Arts Center following the memorial tower visit. Mayor Lee stated, "Following the noble spirit of patriotic martyrs, we will strive to help Cheongju become the most livable city in Korea."

Chungju Mayor Cho Gil-hyung and other city and county heads in the province also pledged new leaps and development through memorial tower visits and New Year ceremonies.

◆ Ruling and Opposition Parties Resolve Victory in Local Elections

Major political parties in the province also visited memorial towers and resolved to win the local elections.

Democratic Party of Korea Chungbuk Provincial Party Chairman Lee Gwang-hee, National Assembly members Lee Kang-il, Lee Yeon-hee, and Song Jae-bong, key party officials, and Cheongju-area local council members held a memorial service at Ochang Chunghon Tower. Chairman Lee stated, "Today's Korea stands on countless sacrifices and dedications. We will repay with politics that protects the lives of provincial and national residents."

People Power Party Chungbuk Provincial Party Chairman Eom Tae-young, Chungbuk Provincial Council Chairman Lee Yang-seop, Cheongju City Council Chairman Kim Hyun-gi, and key party officials also visited Ochang Chunghon Tower and strengthened their resolve for local election victory. People Power Party Chungbuk Provincial Party will hold a political academy for prospective candidates for 4 weeks starting January 7 to find new faces for the local elections.
