세종특별자치시교육청(교육감 권한대행 부교육감 구연희)은 지난 12월 9일 열린 '2025년 제2차 학교실내공기질개선위원회'에서 관내 전체 172개 학교의 실내공기질이 정부 기준을 모두 충족했다고 확정했다. 세종시교육청은 2025년 한 해 동안 전문업체를 통해 전체 172개 학교를 정기점검했으며, 오염물질 발생 우려가 있는 135개 학교에 대해서는 특별점검을 연 2회 실시했다. 점검 결과 조치가 필요한 학교들에는 고온 난방 후 환기(베이크 아웃)와 주기적 환기를 시행해 전체 학교를 기준에 맞춘 것으로 확인됐다. 교육청은 공기정화장치 가동 점검을 연 2회, 필터 청소를 연 1회 이상 완료했다.

◆ 흙먼지털이기 설치 25개 학교로 확대

세종시교육청은 2026년 학교 실내공기질 관리에 학생과 교직원의 참여를 강화한다. 현장 밀착형 홍보로 교육공동체의 적극 참여를 유도하며, 외부 활동 후 묻은 먼지를 제거하는 '흙먼지털이기 설치 지원 사업'을 확대한다. 2025년 중·고등학교 13개 학교를 지원했으나 2026년에는 초·중·고 전 학교급으로 대상을 넓혀 총 25개 학교를 지원할 계획이다. 공기정화장치 유지관리비 단가도 인상하며, 교육청 현장점검을 강화해 보다 체계적인 관리 체계를 구축한다.

◆ 학생 건강과 학습권 보장 최우선

이현재 세종시교육청 학교안전과장은 "학교 실내공기질 관리는 학생의 건강과 학습권을 보장하기 위한 기본 책무"라며 "2026년에는 교육공동체가 함께 참여하는 상시 관리 체계를 구축하고 현장점검을 강화해 더욱 쾌적하고 안전한 교육환경을 제공하겠다"고 밝혔다.

On-site focused promotion will encourage active community engagement, and the "dust removal device installation support program" will be expanded to minimize indoor dust infiltration after outdoor activities. The program supported 13 middle and high schools in 2025, but will expand in 2026 to include all school levels with plans to support 25 schools total. Unit costs for air purification device maintenance will increase, and education office on-site inspections will be strengthened to establish more systematic management systems.

Lee Hyeon-jae, director of the School Safety Division at Sejong City Education Office, stated that "school indoor air quality management is a fundamental responsibility to ensure student health and learning rights," adding "In 2026, we will establish a continuous management system with community participation and strengthen on-site inspections to provide increasingly pleasant and safe educational environments."
