대전시가 29일 유성복합터미널 신축공사 준공식을 개최했다. 이장우 대전시장, 조원휘 대전시의회 의장, 유성구청장, 시·구의원, 시민 500여 명이 참석했다.

◆ 규모 및 운영 계획

유성복합터미널은 대전 도시철도 1호선 구암역 인근에 건립됐다. 총사업비 449억 원을 투입했다. 대지면적 1만 5,000㎡, 건축 연면적 3,858㎡로 조성됐다. 시설은 하루 최대 6,500명을 수용한다. 내년 1월부터 대전교통공사와 민간사업자가 공동으로 운영한다. 서울, 청주, 공주 등 32개 노선의 시외·고속버스가 통합 운영된다.

◆ 향후 계획…지역경제 활성화

현재 이용 중인 유성시외버스 정류소 건물은 4월까지 리모델링을 거쳐 터미널 편의시설로 활용된다. 주변 부지에는 컨벤션 등 복합시설을 위한 1만 7,000㎡ 규모의 지원시설용지를 확보했다. 공공기관 이전에 대비한 7,000㎡ 규모의 공공청사용지도 마련했다. 대중교통 연계로 주변상권 활성화와 일자리 창출이 예상된다.

이장우 시장은 "사귀신속의 자세로 개발계획 변경 발표 3년 만에 신축공사를 완료했다"며 "내달 터미널 운영 시작 시 대전 서북부 권역의 새로운 관문 역할을 할 것"이라고 했다.

◆ Scale and Operational Plan

The Yuseong Complex Terminal was constructed near Guam Station on Daejeon Metro Line 1. The project invested 44.9 billion won in total. The facility occupies 15,000 square meters of land and has a total floor area of 3,858 square meters. The terminal accommodates a maximum of 6,500 users daily. Beginning in January of next year, operations commence under joint management by Daejeon Transportation Corporation and a private operator. A total of 32 intercity and express bus routes from Seoul, Cheongju, and Gongju will operate under integrated service.

◆ Future Plans…Regional Economic Activation

The existing Yuseong Intercity Bus Terminal building will undergo remodeling by April and be utilized as convenience facilities for the new terminal. The city has secured 17,000 square meters of support land for complex facilities such as convention centers in adjacent areas. An additional 7,000 square meters has been reserved for future public office relocation. Regional economic growth and job creation are anticipated through public transportation connection and activation of surrounding commercial areas.

Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated, "With swift administrative execution, we completed the new construction three years after the plan change announcement," and added, "Once terminal operations begin next month, it will serve as a new gateway for Daejeon's northwest region."
