◆ 대전시청에서 나눔 행사 개최
조원휘 대전시의회 의장은 12월 8일 대전시청에서 대전새마을 초록산타 희망과 사랑나눔 행사에 참석했다. 행사에 지역을 대표하는 단체·기관장, 새마을 시회장단, 새마을지도자 등 50여 명이 모였다. 참석자들은 선물꾸러미 제작 및 포장 작업을 진행해 어려운 이웃을 지원하는 실질적 봉사 활동을 벌였다.
◆ 새마을운동 정신을 현장에 뿌리내리다
조원휘 의장은 이번 행사에서 나눔, 봉사, 협력의 새마을운동 정신이 지역사회에 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 대전시의회가 함께할 것을 약속했다. 의장은 "정성으로 채운 선물꾸러미는 어려운 이웃들에게 겨울을 건너게 하는 희망이 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
◆ 청년세대로 확장되는 나눔 문화
대전시의회는 내년부터 청년·대학새마을동아리 지원을 새롭게 반영할 예정이다. 조원휘 의장은 "오늘 마련한 선물 하나가 한 가정의 겨울을 밝히고, 아이들 마음에 오래 남을 작은 빛이자 큰 위로가 되길 소망한다"고 덧붙였다. 새마을운동은 사람을 먼저 생각하는 대전 공동체의 힘을 보여주는 전통으로, 이제 젊은 세대로 확산된다.

◆ Charity Event Held at Daejeon City Hall
Cho Won-hui, Speaker of the Daejeon Metropolitan Council, attended the Daejeon Saemaul Green Santa Hope and Sharing Love event at Daejeon City Hall on December 8. Approximately 50 representatives participated, including representatives of local organizations and institutions, Saemaul council leaders, and Saemaul leaders. Participants engaged in practical volunteer activities by producing and packing gift packages to support underprivileged neighbors.

Speaker Cho pledged at the event that the Daejeon Metropolitan Council will work together to root the spirit of sharing, volunteering, and cooperation of the Saemaul movement in local communities. Cho stated, "Gift packages filled with sincerity will become hope for struggling neighbors to get through winter."
◆ Sharing Culture Expanding to Younger Generations
The Daejeon Metropolitan Council plans to newly reflect support for youth and college Saemaul clubs starting next year. Speaker Cho added, "I hope that each gift prepared today brightens the winter for one family and becomes a small light and great comfort that remains long in children's hearts." The Saemaul movement, a tradition showcasing the power of the Daejeon community that prioritizes people, will now spread to younger generations.
