◆ 터미널 개장 규모와 운영 체계

대전 유성복합터미널이 29일 준공식을 개최하고 2025년 1월부터 운영을 시작한다. 총사업비 449억 원을 투입해 건설된 이 터미널은 대지면적 1만5천㎡, 연면적 3천858㎡로 조성됐다. 하루 최대 6천500명이 이용 가능한 규모다. 서울 청주 공주 등 32개 노선의 시외 직행·고속버스가 운행될 예정이다. 현재 운영 중인 유성시외버스정류소 건물은 리모델링을 거쳐 4월까지 정비를 완료할 계획이다.

◆ 교통 거점으로서의 전략적 위치

터미널은 도시철도 1호선과 BRT 등 대중교통과의 연계성이 높다. 인근에 유성IC가 위치해 대전 서북부 권역의 주요 진입로 역할을 수행한다. 주변 부지 1만7천㎡ 규모에는 컨벤션 등 복합시설 유치를 위한 지원시설용지를 조성했다. 7천㎡ 규모의 공공청사 용지도 확보했다. 인프라 구축으로 지역상권 활성화와 일자리 창출 기여가 예상된다.

◆ 장기간 표류 끝낸 사업 추진 과정

유성복합터미널 건립은 2010년 민간사업자 공모 방식으로 추진됐으나 4차례 모두 무산돼 14년간 표류했다. 여객 수요 감소와 주택경기 악화를 고려해 시는 2023년 2월 공영터미널로 개발 방향을 선회했다. 시 재정을 직접 투입해 여객시설 중심으로 재설계했다. 대전교통공사와 민간사업자가 공동으로 관리·운영한다. 남시덕 대전시 교통국장은 "민·관 협력으로 계획 변경 후 3년 만에 신축공사를 완료했다"고 밝혔다.

Infrastructure development is expected to contribute to revitalization of local commercial districts and job creation.

◆ Project Progression Ending Years of Stagnation

The Seongbuk Complex Terminal construction project was initiated in 2010 through private sector recruitment but stalled for 14 years after four failed attempts. Considering declining passenger demand and deteriorating housing market conditions, the city changed its development direction to a publicly-operated terminal in February 2023. The city directly invested municipal funds and redesigned the facility focusing on passenger amenities. Daejon Transportation Corporation and a private operator will jointly manage and operate the facility. Nam Si-deok, head of Daejon's Transportation Department, stated, "Through public-private cooperation, we completed new construction three years after revising the plan."
