쿠팡에서 3000만 건이 넘는 대규모 개인정보 유출 사고가 발생한 가운데 이용자 집단소송이 본격화되고 있다.
12월 3일 법조계에 따르면 법무법인별 소송 대리에 수천 명의 이용자가 참여했다. 법무법인 청은 12월 1일 이용자 14명과 함께 1인당 20만 원 위자료를 청구하는 소장을 서울중앙지법에 제출했다. 법무법인 지향은 2500명과 위임계약을 완료했다. 번화 법률사무소는 3000여 명, 로피드 법률사무소는 2400여 명이 참여 의사를 밝혔다.
과거 개인정보 유출 사례에서 배상액은 1인당 10만 원에 그쳤다. 2014년 KB국민·NH농협·롯데카드 1억여 건 유출 사건과 2016년 인터파크, 2024년 모두투어 사건에서 모두 1인당 10만 원 판결이 나왔다. 2014년 KT 1170만 건 유출 사건에서는 대법원이 손해배상 책임을 인정하지 않았다.

A massive personal data breach exceeding 30 million records occurred at Coupang and user class action lawsuits are now in full swing.
According to legal circles on December 3, thousands of users joined lawsuits led by various law firms. Law Firm Cheong submitted a complaint to Seoul Central District Court on December 1 with 14 users claiming 200,000 won per person in damages. Law Firm Jihyang completed mandate contracts with 2,500 users. Bunhwa Law Office reported 3,000 participants and Ropid Law Office reported 2,400 users expressed intent to participate.
Compensation in past personal data breach cases was limited to 100,000 won per person. The 2014 KB Kookmin, NH Nonghyup, and Lotte Card breach of 100 million records, the 2016 Interpark case, and the 2024 Modetour case all resulted in 100,000 won per person judgments. In the 2014 KT breach of 11.7 million records, the Supreme Court did not recognize liability for damages.
