충북 청주와 서울을 오가는 시외버스가 내년부터 자율좌석제로 운영된다. 충북도는 내년 1월 1일부터 청주대정류소, 청주북부터미널(오창 경유)과 서울센트럴시티를 오가는 시외버스 운행횟수를 하루 10회에서 12회로 늘리고 전 좌석 자율좌석제를 시행한다고 3일 밝혔다. 자율좌석제 예매는 이날부터 시작했다.

◆ 북부터미널 이용객 좌석 불균형 해소

이 노선은 그동안 청주대정류소 이용객에 운전석 기준 앞쪽 18좌석, 청주북부터미널은 뒤쪽 10좌석을 배정했다. 북부터미널 이용객들이 상대적으로 불리한 좌석 조건을 받는다는 지적이 있었다. 자율좌석제 시행으로 이 같은 불균형이 해소될 전망이다.

◆ 서울남부·동서울행 확대 검토

충북도는 센트럴시티행 차량에 자율좌석제를 우선 적용해 효과를 분석한 뒤 서울남부나 동서울행 버스로 확대할 계획이다. 도 관계자는 "앞으로 터미널사업자, 운송사업자들과 지속적인 협의를 통해 시외버스 이용 도민들의 불편을 줄이기 위한 다양한 방안을 마련하겠다"고 말했다.
