10일 낮 12시 51분께 충북 영동군 심천면 경부고속도로 하행선 부산방향 영동1터널에서 25톤 화물차가 앞서가던 화물차를 들이받는 사고가 발생했다.

25톤 화물차는 이어 옆 차로 승용차와 연쇄 추돌하고 터널 벽을 들이받은 뒤 멈췄다.

이 사고로 25톤 화물차 운전자 60대 남성 A씨가 심정지 상태로 병원으로 이송됐으나 끝내 숨졌다.

앞서가던 화물차 운전자 50대 남성 B씨도 경상을 입고 병원으로 옮겨졌다.

사고 직후 차선 2개를 통제하며 차량 정체를 빚었다.

경찰은 A씨가 터널 내 상황을 인지하지 못한 것으로 보고 정확한 사고 경위를 조사 중이다.

In this accident, Mr. A, a man in his 60s driving the 25-ton truck, was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but eventually died.

Mr. B, a man in his 50s driving the truck ahead, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Two lanes were controlled immediately after the accident, causing vehicle congestion.

Police believe Mr. A failed to recognize the situation inside the tunnel and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
