◆ 상수관 복선화 사업 추진 배경
청주시 상수도사업본부는 시민들에게 안정적으로 수돗물을 공급하기 위해 오창 공동구 상수관 복선화 확충사업을 추진한다고 10일 밝혔다.
최근 다른 지역에서 발생한 공동구 내 대형 상수도관 누수 사고를 계기로, 청주시는 오창 공동구 노후 상수관의 보수·보강에 대한 필요성을 확인했다. 청주시는 비상 상황에 대비한 개선 계획을 마련했다.
오창 산업단지 및 일신배수지 일부 권역은 공동구 단일 관로로 상수도를 공급하고 있다. 돌발 사고 발생 시 약 2만5천여 세대와 160여개 기업이 단수 피해를 입을 우려가 있다.
◆ 사업 규모 및 일정
청주시는 상수관로를 복선화해 비상상황 시 단수시간과 범위를 최소화하고, 안정적인 물공급을 확보할 예정이다.
사업 규모는 오창읍 각리 일원에 공업용수 송·배수관 3.1km, 생활용수 송‧배수관 3.8km로 총 6.9km의 상수관로를 설치한다.
청주시는 내년 상반기까지 현장조사 및 실시설계를 완료하고, 2026년 하반기부터 본격적인 공사에 들어갈 계획이다.
◆ 안정적 물 공급 확보
박관석 상수도사업본부장은 "이번 사업을 통해 오창 공동구 단일 관로 구역의 복선화를 완료하고, 비상 상황 시 주민 불편을 최소화하며 안정적인 물 공급에 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

Following a recent major water pipeline leak accident in a utility tunnel in another region, Cheongju City confirmed the necessity of repairing and reinforcing the aging water pipeline in the Ochang utility tunnel. Cheongju City prepared an improvement plan in preparation for emergency situations.
The Ochang Industrial Complex and parts of the Ilsin Reservoir area are supplied with water through a single utility tunnel pipeline. In the event of an unexpected accident, there is a concern that approximately 25,000 households and 160 companies could suffer water cutoff damage.
◆ Project Scale and Schedule
Cheongju City plans to double-track the water pipeline to minimize water cutoff time and scope in emergency situations and secure stable water supply.
The project scale involves installing a total of 6.9km of water pipelines in the Gak-ri area of Ochang-eup, including 3.1km of industrial water transmission and distribution pipes and 3.8km of domestic water transmission and distribution pipes.
Cheongju City plans to complete on-site surveys and detailed design by the first half of next year and begin full-scale construction in the second half of 2026.
◆ Securing Stable Water Supply
Park Gwan-seok, head of the Waterworks Headquarters, said, "Through this project, we will complete the double-tracking of the Ochang utility tunnel single pipeline area, minimize inconvenience to residents in emergency situations, and do our best to provide stable water supply."
