◆전국 175개 특구 중 유일한 대통령상
공주시는 '공주알밤특구'가 전국 175개 지역특화발전특구 중 최우수특구로 선정됐다고 7일 밝혔다. 중소벤처기업부는 6일 대전컨벤션센터에서 열린 '2025 지역특화발전특구 시상식'에서 공주알밤특구에 대통령상을 수여했다. 중소벤처기업부는 서면평가, 현장실사, 전문가 평가, 대국민 평가를 실시해 최우수특구 1곳과 우수특구 8곳을 선정했다.
◆2010년 특구 지정 후 15년간 성과 축적
공주시는 전국 밤 생산량의 17%를 생산한다. 공주알밤특구는 2010년 지정 이후 친환경·생력화 생산 기반을 구축하고 고부가가치 상품을 개발했다. 공주시는 공주밤 유통망을 확대하고 전략적 브랜드 마케팅을 추진했다. 공주시는 특구 규제 특례를 활용해 '겨울공주 군밤축제', '대한민국 알밤박람회'를 개최했다. 일본 오부세마치와 업무협약을 체결했고, 메가MGC커피와 협업해 공주알밤 신제품 2종을 출시했다.
◆2028년 국제밤산업박람회 개최 추진
공주시는 2028년 산림청, 충청남도와 함께 '국제밤산업박람회' 개최를 준비한다. 공주시는 '공주알밤명품화진흥센터'를 건립 중이다. 공주시는 2026년 중소벤처기업부 시군 연고산업 육성사업에 예비 선정됐다. 최원철 공주시장은 "대통령상 수상은 공주시민, 농가, 지역 기업이 함께 만든 결실이다"라고 말했다. 최 시장은 "공주알밤특구가 경쟁력 있는 브랜드로 성장하도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Gongju City signed a business agreement with Obuse-machi, Japan, and collaborated with Mega MGC Coffee to launch two new products using Gongju chestnuts.
◆Promoting 2028 International Chestnut Industry Expo
Gongju City prepares to host the 'International Chestnut Industry Expo' in 2028 together with the Korea Forest Service and Chungcheongnam-do Province. Gongju City is building the 'Gongju Albam Premium Development Center'. Gongju City was preliminarily selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' city and county connected industry development project in 2026. Gongju Mayor Choi Won-cheol said, "The Presidential Award is the result created together by Gongju citizens, farms, and local businesses." Mayor Choi stated, "We will do our best to help Gongju Albam Special Zone grow into a competitive brand."
