◆ 대표단 보은군 방문 및 교류 협의
일본 미야자키시 기요야마 토모노리 시장을 비롯한 대표단이 대한민국 대표 농특산물 축제인 ‘2025 보은대추축제’를 방문해 양 도시 간의 우호를 재확인하고 교류 확대 방안을 논의했다. 대표단은 10월 16일 보은군청을 방문해 최재형 보은군수와 상호 발전 방안에 대해 의견을 나눴다. 이후 환영 만찬에 참석해 교류 의지를 다졌다. (출처: 보은군)

◆ 문화·청소년 분야 교류 확대
대표단은 17일 법주사, 속리산 테마파크, 국가무형문화재 낙화장 전시장을 둘러보며 지역의 문화와 전통을 체험했다. 이어 보은여자중학교와 보은군청소년센터를 방문해 청소년 교류 활동에 높은 관심을 보였으며, ‘보은대추축제’ 개막식에 주요 내빈으로 참석해 군민들에게 인사를 전했다. 대표단은 축제장을 둘러보며 현장의 분위기를 직접 확인했다.

◆ 33년째 이어지는 자매도시 교류
보은군과 미야자키시는 1993년 자매결연을 맺은 후 올해로 33주년을 맞이했다. 양 도시는 매년 중학생 상호 교류 활동을 이어오고 있으며, 올해 7월에는 미야자키시 학생들이 보은군을 방문했다. 오는 11월에는 보은군 중학생 10명이 미야자키시를 방문할 예정이다. 또한 미야자키시 일한자매도시교류협회(회장 카와노 히로시) 대표단 4명도 17일 보은을 찾아 축제 개막식에 참석하며 민간 차원의 교류도 활발히 진행됐다. 최재형 보은군수와 기요야마 토모노리 시장은 문화·교육 등 다양한 분야에서 지속적인 협력 확대 의지를 밝혔다.

A delegation from Miyazaki City, Japan, led by Mayor Kiyoyama Tomonori, visited the 2025 Boeun Daechu Festival, Korea’s representative agricultural specialty festival, to reaffirm friendship and discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two cities. ◆ Cultural and Youth Exchange Expansion
On October 17, the delegation toured Beopjusa Temple, Songnisan Theme Park, and the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Nakhwajang Exhibition Hall to experience local culture and traditions. They also visited Boeun Girls’ Middle School and the Boeun Youth Center to express strong interest in youth exchange activities. Later, the delegation attended the festival’s opening ceremony as special guests and greeted local residents, while experiencing the lively atmosphere of the event.

◆ 33 Years of Sister City Relations
Boeun County and Miyazaki City signed their sister city agreement in 1993, marking 33 years of partnership this year. The two cities have continued annual student exchange programs. In July, students from Miyazaki visited Boeun, and in November, 10 Boeun middle school students will visit Miyazaki. Additionally, four members of the Miyazaki City Japan-Korea Sister City Exchange Association, led by Chairman Kawano Hiroshi, joined the festival opening ceremony, highlighting active private-level exchanges. Governor Choi Jae-hyung and Mayor Kiyoyama Tomonori reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in culture, education, and other fields.
