서산시 시민대상은 각 분야에서 묵묵히 헌신하고 지역사회 발전에 이바지한 시민을 발굴, 시상한다. 지난해까지 총 51명의 수상자를 배출했다.
5개 부문 각 1명씩 선발
시상 부문은 ▲교육·문화 및 체육진흥 ▲사회봉사 ▲산업 및 지역 개발 ▲효행 및 선행 ▲애향 및 지역선양 등 5개 부문이다.
시는 부문별 1명을 선발할 예정이다. 대상자가 없는 경우 선발하지 않을 수 있다.
서산시 5년 이상 거주 시민 대상
후보자는 추천일 기준 서산시에 5년 이상 계속 거주하고 있는 시민으로서, 각 부문에 해당하는 뚜렷한 공적이 있어야 한다.
단, 애향 및 지역선양 부문은 거주기간 제한이 없다.
읍면동 행정복지센터서 추천 가능
추천권자는 읍면동의 장과 시 단위 기관·사회단체장이다. 추천을 원하는 시민은 후보자의 주소지 관할 읍면동 행정복지센터에 방문해 추천할 수 있다.
추천으로 접수된 후보자는 추천권자의 자체 심사를 거쳐 최종 추천된다.
12월 중 최종 수상자 결정
최종 수상자는 부문별 전문가로 구성된 서산시 시민대상 심사위원회의 공정한 심의를 거쳐 12월 중 결정·시상될 예정이다.
이완섭 시장은 "접수된 후보자에 대해서는 투명하고 공정한 심사를 거쳐 분야별 수상자를 선정하겠다"며 "지역사회에 선한 영향력을 끼치고 계신 분들을 발굴할 수 있도록 많은 관심을 부탁드린다"고 말했다.

The Seosan City Citizen Award discovers and honors citizens who have silently dedicated themselves in various fields and contributed to community development. A total of 51 winners have been produced until last year.
1 Person Selected in Each of 5 Categories
The award categories are ▲Education, Culture and Sports Promotion ▲Social Service ▲Industry and Regional Development ▲Filial Piety and Good Deeds ▲Love for Hometown and Regional Promotion, totaling 5 categories.
The city plans to select one person per category. If there are no suitable candidates, selection may not be made.
Target: Citizens Residing in Seosan City for 5 Years or More
Candidates must be citizens who have continuously resided in Seosan City for 5 years or more as of the recommendation date and have clear achievements corresponding to each category.
However, there is no residence period restriction for the Love for Hometown and Regional Promotion category.
Recommendation Available at Eup-Myeon-Dong Administrative Welfare Center
Recommenders are heads of eup-myeon-dong and heads of city-level organizations and social groups. Citizens who wish to recommend can visit the eup-myeon-dong administrative welfare center in charge of the candidate's address.
Candidates received through recommendation are finally recommended after undergoing internal review by recommenders.
Final Winners to be Decided in December
Final winners will be decided and awarded in December after fair deliberation by the Seosan City Citizen Award Judging Committee composed of experts in each category.
Mayor Lee Wan-seop said, "We will select winners in each field through transparent and fair screening of received candidates," adding, "We ask for your interest in discovering those who have a positive influence on the local community."
