"부족함으로 실망 안겨드려"

선거구민에게 추석 선물을 제공한 혐의로 수사받는 충북 영동군의회 이대호 의원이 14일 더불어민주당에서 탈당하고, 내년 지방선거에 불출마하기로 했다.

이 의원은 14일 입장문을 내 "저의 부족함으로 인해 군민께 큰 실망을 안겨드렸다"면서 "탈당과 불출마를 결심한 건 정치적 판단이 아니라 저 자신을 돌아보며 새롭게 시작하기 위함"이라고 밝혔다.

도선관위, 12일 검찰 고발

충북도선거관리위원회는 선거구민 42명에게 182만원 상당의 김 선물세트를 연휴 직전에 제공한 이 의원의 공직선거법 위반(기부행위 제한) 혐의를 확인하고, 지난 12일 청주지검 영동지청에 고발했다.

Lee Dae-ho, a Yeongdong County Council member in North Chungcheong Province under investigation for providing Chuseok gifts to constituents, left the Democratic Party of Korea on the 14th and decided not to run in next year's local elections.

Lee released a statement on the 14th saying, "I have greatly disappointed the county residents due to my shortcomings," adding, "My decision to leave the party and not run is not a political judgment but to reflect on myself and make a fresh start."

Provincial Election Commission Files Complaint on 12th

The Chungcheongbuk-do Election Commission confirmed Lee's violation of the Public Official Election Act (restriction on donation activities) for providing seaweed gift sets worth 1.82 million won to 42 constituents just before the holiday, and filed a complaint with the Yeongdong branch of the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office on the 12th.
