민주당 통일교·신천지 특검법 발의…변협 등 3개 단체 추천 방식
더불어민주당이 26일 통일교와 신천지의 정치권 유착 및 비리 의혹 수사를 위한 특검법안을 발의했다. 문진석 원내운영수석부대표 등은 이날 국회 의안과에 특검법안을 제출했다.
민주당 법안은 특검 추천 권한을 대한변호사협회·한국법학교수회·법학전문대학원협의회에 부여했다. 각 단체가 후보 1명씩 추천하면 대통령이 사흘 안에 1명을 임명한다. 수사 대상에는 통일교 로비 의혹과 신천지의 2021년 국민의힘 대선 경선 개입 의혹이 포함됐다. 문 수석부대표는 "12월 임시국회 회기 안에 처리할 것"이라고 밝혔다.

Democratic Party Proposes Special Counsel Law for Unification Church and Shincheonji
The Democratic Party of Korea proposed a special counsel bill on December 26 to investigate allegations of collusion between the Unification Church, Shincheonji, and political circles. Floor Leadership Senior Deputy Representative Moon Jin-seok and others submitted the bill to the National Assembly.
The bill grants special counsel nomination authority to the Korean Bar Association, Korean Association of Law Professors, and Association of Korean Law Schools. Each organization recommends one candidate, and the president appoints one within three days. The investigation scope includes the Unification Church's lobbying allegations and Shincheonji's alleged intervention in the 2021 People Power Party presidential primary. Senior Deputy Representative Moon stated the bill will be processed within the December extraordinary session.
