김범석 쿠팡 Inc 이사회 의장이 28일 개인정보 유출 사태와 관련해 처음으로 사과했다.
유출 사실이 알려진 지 한 달 만이다.
김 의장은 이날 쿠팡을 통해 배포한 자료에서 "쿠팡의 창업자이자 이사회 의장으로서 전체 임직원을 대표해 진심으로 사과드린다"고 밝혔다. 그는 "저희의 책임으로 발생한 이번 데이터 유출로 많은 분께서 개인정보가 안전하지 않다는 두려움과 불안을 느꼈다"며 "사고 초기부터 명확하고 직접적으로 소통하지 못해 큰 좌절감과 실망을 안겨 드렸다"고 말했다.
한 달 만에 사과한 데 대해 김 의장은 "무엇보다 제 사과가 늦었다"며 "모든 사실이 확인된 이후에 공개적으로 소통하고 사과하는 것이 최선이라고 판단했으나 돌이켜보면 이는 잘못된 판단이었다"고 밝혔다.
