◆ 음성 국립소방병원 현판식서 면담

김영환 충북지사가 김영태 서울대병원장을 만나 서울대병원 연구개발(R&D) 임상병원의 조속한 추진을 요청했다. 두 사람은 지난 24일 음성군에서 열린 국립소방병원 현판식에서 만났다. 서울대병원 R&D 임상병원은 'K-바이오 스퀘어' 조성의 핵심 기반 시설이다. 김 지사는 "오송에는 AI 바이오 영재학교, 카이스트 바이오메디컬 캠퍼스타운, 첨단의료복합단지가 집적돼 있다"며 "대한민국 바이오 연구의 핵심 거점"이라고 강조했다. 그는 "서울대병원 R&D 임상병원이 들어서면 차세대 AI 바이오 융합 연구 인재를 양성하고 연구 성과를 신속히 임상으로 전환할 수 있는 최적의 입지가 된다"고 덧붙였다.

◆ 전국 의료 현장 확산 기대

김 지사는 서울대병원의 첨단·고난도 임상 연구 성과가 전국 의료 현장으로 확산될 것이라고 전망했다. 그는 "특정 지역에 머무는 것이 아니라 의료 서비스의 질적 도약과 의료균형 실현에 크게 기여할 것"이라고 말했다. 충북도는 서울대병원이 안정적으로 연구하고 효율적으로 병원을 운영할 수 있도록 부지·인프라·행정 지원 등 모든 자원을 아끼지 않겠다고 약속했다. 김 지사는 "국립소방병원이 중부권 공공의료의 핵심 축으로 자리 잡는 이 순간은 오송 R&D 임상병원이 나아가야 할 미래상을 보여주는 상징적인 순간"이라며 조속한 추진을 거듭 강조했다.

◆ K-바이오 스퀘어 핵심 기관 될 전망

서울대병원 R&D 임상병원은 연구·임상·산업을 통합하는 플랫폼 역할을 한다. 연구 성과가 임상과 산업으로 신속히 연계되는 구조다. K-바이오 스퀘어의 핵심 기관으로 자리매김할 전망이다. 충북은 최근 중소벤처기업부 주관 공모 사업에서 AI 바이오 노화 대응 글로벌 혁신특구 후보 과제로 선정됐다. 충북도는 오송을 노화와 희귀·난치질환에 특화된 AI 바이오 혁신 거점으로 조성할 방침이다.

The Seoul National University Hospital R&D Clinical Hospital is a key infrastructure facility for the 'K-Bio Square' project. Governor Kim emphasized, "Osong has the AI Bio Gifted School, KAIST Biomedical Campus Town, and Advanced Medical Complex clustered together, making it the core hub of Korean bio research." He added, "When the Seoul National University Hospital R&D Clinical Hospital is established, it will become the optimal location for cultivating next-generation AI bio convergence research talent and rapidly translating research outcomes into clinical practice."

◆ Expected to Spread to Medical Sites Nationwide

Governor Kim projected that Seoul National University Hospital's advanced and high-difficulty clinical research outcomes will spread to medical sites nationwide. He said, "Rather than remaining in a specific region, it will greatly contribute to qualitative leaps in medical services and achieving medical balance." Chungbuk Province pledged to spare no resources including land, infrastructure, and administrative support so that Seoul National University Hospital can conduct stable research and operate efficiently. Governor Kim repeatedly emphasized prompt advancement, stating, "This moment when the National Fire Hospital establishes itself as the core axis of public healthcare in the central region is a symbolic moment showing the future direction for the Osong R&D Clinical Hospital."

◆ Expected to Become Core Institution of K-Bio Square

The Seoul National University Hospital R&D Clinical Hospital serves as a platform integrating research, clinical practice, and industry. It has a structure where research outcomes are rapidly linked to clinical practice and industry. It is expected to establish itself as a core institution of K-Bio Square. Chungbuk was recently selected as a candidate project for the AI Bio Aging Response Global Innovation Zone in a public contest organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Chungbuk Province plans to develop Osong as an AI bio innovation hub specializing in aging and rare and intractable diseases.
