사업 대상지는 탕정지구 도시개발로 조성된 유수지다. 전체 면적 1만 4,492㎡ 중 8,700㎡를 생태복원 구역으로 편입한다. 아산시는 지난 9월 충청남도를 통해 수요조사 제안서를 제출했다. 금강유역환경청 사전심사와 환경부 최종 심사를 거쳐 사업 대상지로 확정됐다. 이번 사업은 환경부 멸종위기 야생생물 II급 맹꽁이의 대체 서식처를 조성하는 데 핵심 목표를 둔다. 습지 복원과 서식 환경 개선으로 도시화로 파편화된 양서류 서식 여건을 회복하고 생물다양성을 높인다.

◆ 홍수 조절 기능 유지…안전시설 병행 설치

아산시는 유수지 방재 기능을 유지하면서 생태공원을 조성한다. 평상시에는 생태 체험·휴식 공간으로 개방하고 우기·집중호우 시에는 출입을 엄격히 제한한다. 환경보전과는 안전총괄과와 협업해 진출입 차단 시설을 설치한다. CCTV 실시간 모니터링과 안내 방송 시스템도 구축한다.

◆ 2026년 3월 착공…현대차 1억 원 추가 지원

아산시는 2026년 1월까지 사업계획 승인 절차를 완료하고 3월 초 착공한다. 11월까지 모든 공사를 마친다. 아산시는 한국환경보전원과 협약에 따라 현대자동차로부터 1억 원을 추가 지원받는다. 이 재원은 생태교육 시설 확충에 투입한다.
