◆ 광역시 중 유일하게 선정된 국가시범지구
대전 대덕구 오정동이 국토교통부 2025년 도시재생사업 공모에서 국가시범지구로 최종 선정됐다. 광역시 중에서 이곳이 유일하게 선정됐다. 이장우 대전시장은 12월 19일 시정 브리핑에서 "도시재생 공모사업 중 국비 보조 규모가 가장 큰 국가시범지구에 대덕구가 최종 선정됐다"고 밝혔다.
오정동 도시재생 혁신지구 사업은 현 대덕구청사 부지 1만 3,702㎡를 대상으로 한다. 국비 250억 원을 포함해 총 2,041억 원이 투입될 전망이다. 사업 기간은 2026년부터 2030년까지 5년이다.
◆ 산업·기술 연계 플랫폼 구축
국가시범지구는 디자인엔지니어링과 첨단 뿌리산업을 연결하는 도심형 산업거점을 핵심으로 운영된다. 제품 설계, 시제품 제작, 기술자문이 한 공간에서 이루어지는 융복합 산업 클러스터가 들어선다.
대전에서 매년 300명 이상 은퇴하는 고경력 과학기술인과 뿌리산업을 연계한 기술 애로 해소 플랫폼도 구축한다. 이를 통해 산업 경쟁력을 강화할 계획이다.
◆ 주거·생활시설 함께 조성
정주 여건 개선 사업도 병행된다. 산업 종사자와 청년층을 위한 공동주택 156세대가 지어진다. 공영주차장, 독서실, 체육시설, 돌봄센터 등 생활 SOC 시설도 조성된다. 일과 생활이 공존하는 도시환경 구현이 목표다.
사업은 2026년 지구고시, 2027년 사업시행계획 수립, 2028년 착공, 2031년 운영 개시 순으로 추진된다. 대전시는 민·관·산·학 거버넌스 체계로 사업 지속성과 운영 안정성을 확보한다.
이장우 시장은 "오정동은 경제의 거점이자 대덕특구 첨단기술을 융합하는 새로운 플랫폼이 될 것"이라고 말했다.

◆ Only Metropolitan City Selected as National Pilot District
Oejeong-dong in Daeduk-gu, Daejeon won final selection as a national pilot district in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2025 Urban Regeneration Project Competition. It is the only district selected among metropolitan cities. Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo announced on December 19 in a city briefing that "Daeduk-gu was selected as the national pilot district with the largest government subsidy among urban regeneration projects."
The Oejeong-dong Urban Regeneration Innovation District targets the current Daeduk-gu Government Complex site of 13,702 square meters. Total investment reaches 204.1 billion won, including 25 billion won in national subsidies. The project runs from 2026 through 2030, spanning five years.
◆ Construction of Industry-Technology Linkage Platform
The national pilot district operates centered on an urban industrial hub connecting design engineering and advanced root industries. A convergence industrial cluster where product design, prototype manufacturing, and technical consultation occur in one location will be established.
The city will also build a technology problem-solving platform linking high-level retired scientists and engineers retiring annually in Daejeon, numbering over 300 people, with root industries. This aims to strengthen industrial competitiveness.
◆ Residential and Living Facilities Constructed Together
Improvement of residential conditions proceeds simultaneously. 156 units of apartment housing for industry workers and young people will be built. Public parking lots, reading rooms, sports facilities, and childcare centers representing living SOC facilities will also be developed. Implementation of an urban environment where work and life coexist serves as the goal.
The project advances through 2026 district designation, 2027 business implementation plan establishment, 2028 construction start, and 2031 operation commencement. Daejeon City secures project continuity and operational stability through private-public-industry-academic governance structures.
Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated, "Oejeong-dong will become an economic hub and a new platform integrating advanced technology from the Daedeok Special Zone."
