"함께하는 나눔"...광혜원중, 지역 어르신 돌봄 실천
◆ 학생자치회 임원, 경로당 3곳 봉사
광혜원중학교(교장 이주열)는 2024년 12월 17일 광동경로당·하신2리경로당·광동부녀경로당을 방문했다. 3학년 학생자치회 임원과 각 학급 실장이 참여해 겨울철 지역 어르신 돌봄 봉사활동을 진행했다. 학생들은 사전에 준비한 식료품과 방한용품을 경로당 어르신에게 전달했다.
◆ 안마·대화로 따뜻한 시간 만들다
봉사활동 현장에서 학생들은 어르신 안마를 도와드리고 말동무가 되어 생활 이야기를 들었다. 세대 간 직접 대면과 대화를 통해 어르신 삶의 이야기를 파악했다. 이주열 교장은 "학생들이 직접 지역 어르신을 찾아가 실천한 봉사활동은 공동체 정신을 기르는 소중한 교육의 장"이라고 평가했다.
◆ 작은 실천이 지역에 긍정적 변화 만든다
학생들은 이번 활동을 통해 공동체 구성원으로서 책임과 배려의 가치를 깨달았다. 개인의 작은 실천이 지역 사회에 긍정적인 변화를 가져올 수 있음을 체험했다. 광혜원중은 앞으로 학생자치를 중심으로 한 지역 연계 인성교육을 지속할 계획이다.

◆ Student Government Leaders Visit Three Senior Centers
Gwanghye Middle School (Principal Lee Joo-yeol) visited Gwangdong Senior Center, Hasin 2-ri Senior Center, and Gwangdong Women's Senior Center on December 17, 2024. Third-year student government officers and class leaders participated in winter care volunteer activities for elderly residents. Students delivered pre-prepared food items and winter supplies to the seniors at the centers.
◆ Students Create Warm Moments Through Massages and Conversations
During the volunteer activity, students helped massage the elderly and became conversation partners, listening to their life stories. Through direct face-to-face interaction and dialogue across generations, students gained understanding of the seniors' lived experiences. Principal Lee Joo-yeol said, "The volunteer activity conducted by students who directly visited local elderly residents is a precious educational opportunity to foster community spirit."
◆ Small Acts Create Positive Change in the Community
Through this activity, students realized the values of responsibility and consideration as community members. They experienced how individual small acts of kindness can bring positive change to society. Gwanghye Middle School plans to continue community-linked character education centered on student autonomy.
