◆ 충북교육청 내년 사자성어 '온지성실' 확정
충북도교육청은 2026년 사자성어로 '온지성실(溫知誠實)'을 선정했다고 17일 밝혔다. '온지성실'은 '따뜻한 마음으로 배우고 진심을 다해 행한다'는 뜻이다. 이 사자성어는 의미 있는 배움이 학교 안에 머무르지 않고 실제 상황에 적용돼 문제를 해결하고 삶 속에서 실천으로 확장되는 실용 교육의 지향점을 담았다.
◆ 직원·학생 316명 참여…학생이 직접 창작
충북도교육청은 지난달 3일부터 10일간 병오년(丙午年) 사자성어를 공모했다. 직원과 학생 316명이 참여했고 1차 심사와 선호도 조사를 거쳐 최종 선정했다. '온지성실'은 학생이 직접 창작해 응모한 작품이다. 지난해 40여 명 수준이던 공모전 학생 참여 인원은 올해 90여 명으로 2배 이상 늘었다.
◆ 2023년부터 사자성어 공모전 진행
충북도교육청은 2023년부터 새해 충북교육의 방향을 모색하기 위해 사자성어 공모전을 진행했다. 2023년 집사광익(集思廣益), 2024년 상수공생(相修共生), 2025년 전지다학(全地多學)을 선정했다. 충북도교육청 관계자는 "내년은 '온지성실'의 의미로 학교의 배움이 일상과 지역사회로 자연스럽게 확장되고 아이들이 미래의 삶을 주도적으로 설계할 수 있도록 충북교육을 이끌겠다"고 말했다.

◆ 316 Staff and Students Participate…Student Creates Original Work
Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education held a four-character idiom contest for the Year of the Horse (Byeongo Year) for 10 days starting November 3. A total of 316 staff members and students participated, and the final selection was made through first-round screening and preference surveys. 'Onji Seongsil' was created and submitted by a student. Student participation in the contest increased from about 40 last year to about 90 this year, more than doubling.
◆ Four-Character Idiom Contest Held Since 2023
Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education has held a four-character idiom contest since 2023 to explore the direction of Chungbuk education for the new year. The office selected Jipsagwangik (集思廣益) in 2023, Sangsugongsaeng (相修共生) in 2024, and Jeunjidahak (全地多學) in 2025. A Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education official said, "Next year, with the meaning of 'Onji Seongsil,' we will lead Chungbuk education so that school learning naturally extends to daily life and local communities, and children can proactively design their future lives."
