◆ 홍성군의회가 한국전력공사의 새만금~신서산 345kV 송전선로 건설사업을 강력히 반발했다. 군의회는 12월 10일 결의안을 채택해 사업의 즉각 중단과 원점 전면 재검토를 촉구했다. 사업 추진 과정에서 주민 의견 수렴 부족과 절차적 투명성 결여가 지적됐다.

◆ 해당 사업 규모는 전북 새만금 2개폐소에서 충남 신서산 변전소까지 약 100km 구간에 초고압 송전선을 신설하는 것이다. 사업 통과 지역은 충남 10개 시군, 전북 3개 시군이다. 홍성군은 11개 읍면 전역이 경과 후보지로 포함돼 군 전역이 초고압 송전선로 영향권에 들어갈 수 있다.

◆ 군의회는 한국전력공사에 구체적 촉구사항 3가지를 제시했다. 첫째는 사업의 즉각 중단과 원점에서의 전면 재검토다. 둘째는 주민 의견을 철저히 반영하고 공정·투명한 절차 아래 입지 선정이 이뤄지도록 제도적 장치를 마련하는 것이다.
