◆ 2학년, 김혜정 작가와 만남
속리산중학교(교장 김성은) 학생들이 10월 16일과 17일 보은 독서축제와 대추축제에 참여했다.
16일 2학년 학생들은 보은교육도서관에서 열린 독서축제에서 김혜정 작가를 만났다. 학생들은 김 작가의 저서 『오백 년째 열다섯』을 중심으로 작품 주제와 창작 과정에 대해 질문했다.
◆ 1학년, 다양한 독서 프로그램 참여
17일 1학년 학생들은 '나만의 필사노트 만들기', '꿀벌구하기 밀랍초 체험', '그림책 가을마법사' 등 다양한 프로그램에 참여했다.
학생들은 비경쟁 독서토론에서 이명애 작가의 『플라스틱 섬』을 함께 읽었다. 학생들은 환경문제와 책의 제작 과정을 배웠다.
◆ 솔빛오케스트라, 대추축제 공연
같은 날 속리산중 솔빛오케스트라 단원들은 대추축제 행사장에서 약 1시간 동안 공연했다. 김미현 지도교사의 지휘 아래 '스카이 블루 드림'을 비롯한 10여 곡을 연주했다.
드라마 주제곡 '혜화동'의 플룻 솔로 연주는 관람객들에게 호응을 얻었다. 바람에 악보가 날아가는 상황에도 학생들은 집중력을 유지하며 연주를 이어갔다.
지역 주민들은 "학생들이 수준 높은 오케스트라 연주를 들려줘 대추축제가 품격 있게 느껴졌다"고 말했다.
◆ 학생·교장 소감
플룻 파트장 권니아수(3학년) 학생은 "지역 어르신들 가까이에서 연주하니 마음이 편안하고 곡의 분위기가 더 잘 살아났다"고 밝혔다.
김성은 교장은 "학생들이 지역사회의 일원으로 자부심을 가지고 참여하는 모습이 자랑스럽다"며 "지역사회와 연계한 다양한 교육활동을 통해 함께 성장하는 학교를 만들어가겠다"고 말했다.
속리산중학교는 학생들의 재능과 열정을 지역사회와 나누며 지역과 함께 성장하는 교육활동을 지속할 계획이다.

◆ 2nd Graders Meet Author Kim Hye-jung
Students from Songnisan Middle School (Principal Kim Seong-eun) participated in Boeun Reading Festival and Jujube Festival on October 16 and 17.
On the 16th, 2nd-grade students met author Kim Hye-jung at the reading festival held at Boeun Education Library. Students asked questions about the theme and creative process centered on Kim's book "Fifteen for Five Hundred Years."
◆ 1st Graders Participate in Various Reading Programs
On the 17th, 1st-grade students participated in various programs including "Making My Own Transcription Notebook," "Save the Bees Beeswax Candle Experience," and "Picture Book Autumn Magician."
Students read author Lee Myung-ae's "Plastic Island" together in a non-competitive reading discussion. Students learned about environmental issues and the book production process.
◆ Solbit Orchestra Performs at Jujube Festival
On the same day, Songnisan Middle School Solbit Orchestra members performed for about 1 hour at the Jujube Festival venue. They performed about 10 songs including "Sky Blue Dream" under the direction of teacher Kim Mi-hyun.
The flute solo performance of the drama theme song "Hyehwa-dong" received a positive response from the audience. Despite the situation where music sheets flew away in the wind, students maintained concentration and continued their performance.
Local residents said, "The students' high-level orchestra performance made the Jujube Festival feel more dignified."
◆ Student and Principal Comments
Flute section leader Kwon Ni-asu (3rd grade) stated, "Playing close to local elderly people made me feel comfortable and the atmosphere of the songs came alive better."
Principal Kim Seong-eun said, "I am proud of students participating with pride as members of the local community," adding "We will continue to create a school that grows together through various educational activities linked with the local community."
Songnisan Middle School plans to continue educational activities that grow with the region by sharing students' talents and passion with the local community.
