◆ 설계용역 본격 착수
충북 괴산군(군수 송인헌)이 옥현~수리 도로개량공사 기본 및 실시설계용역에 착수했다. 지방도508호선 소수면 옥현리에서 수리를 연결하는 도로로, 국도37호선과 지방도533호선을 잇는 주요 간선도로다. 설계용역 비용은 2025년 충북도 2회 추가경정예산에 반영됐다. 12월부터 착수해 2026년 실시설계를 완료하고 2027년 본 공사를 시행할 예정이다.
◆ 병목 구간 개선 기대
현재 해당 구간은 편도 1차로가 2.5km에 달한다. 맞은편 차량이 나타나면 한쪽이 비켜 가야 하는 상황이 반복된다. 이로 인해 교통 불편과 안전사고 우려가 지속됐다. 괴산군과 지역주민이 충북도에 조기 착수를 건의해 온 이유다.
◆ 총 242억 규모 도로 개량
공사는 총사업비 242억 원을 투입한다. 소수면 옥현리~수리 구간 지방도508호선 총 연장 3.78km를 2차로로 개량한다. 사업 완료 후 교통혼잡 해소, 사고 예방, 통행 여건 개선으로 지역발전과 경기 활성화에 기여할 것으로 예상된다. 괴산군 관계자는 "지역주민이 공감할 수 있는 설계가 수립되도록 충북도와 지속 협의하겠다"고 말했다.

◆ Basic and Implementation Design Project Launched
Goesan County, North Chungcheong (County Governor Song In-heon) has commenced basic and implementation design service for the road improvement project connecting Okbyon-ri to Suri on Provincial Road 508. The road links National Route 37 and Provincial Road 533, serving as a major arterial road. Design service costs were reflected in the second supplementary budget of North Chungcheong Province in 2025. The project begins in December, with implementation design to be completed in 2026 and main construction planned for 2027.
◆ Alleviating Bottleneck Section
Currently, a one-lane section extends 2.5 kilometers on this route. Vehicles must pull over when traffic approaches from the opposite direction, a situation repeating regularly. This has caused traffic inconvenience and safety concerns. Goesan County and local residents had requested North Chungcheong Province to begin the project early.
◆ 242 Billion Won Road Improvement Project
The project will invest a total of 242 billion won. The 3.78-kilometer section of Provincial Road 508 from Okbyon-ri to Suri in Sosu-myeon will be improved to two lanes. Upon project completion, traffic congestion resolution, accident prevention, and improved traffic conditions are expected to contribute to regional development and economic vitalization. A Goesan County official stated, "We will continue coordinating with North Chungcheong Province to establish designs that resonate with local residents."
