겨울철 관광 비수기에 지역경제 활력을 높이려는 전략이다. 축구 외 다양한 종목 스포츠팀 유치도 추진한다. 숙박·음식·지역상권 등 지역경제 전반에 긍정적인 효과를 기대한다.
송인헌 괴산군수는 "괴산을 찾는 선수단을 진심으로 환영한다"며 "훈련과 체류 중 불편이 없도록 아낌없이 지원해 최고의 훈련 성과를 거둘 수 있도록 하겠다"고 말했다.

Goesan County will host the 2026 Goesan Winter Soccer Training Camp from January 5 to 14, 2026, the county announced on December 16.
Twelve soccer teams from across the nation will participate. Participating teams include Daejeon P&S, Namdong United, Kim Shin-wook FC, and Incheon aiwon FC.
Goesan Sports Town will serve as the training venue. The comprehensive sports facility received total project funding of 19.57 billion won. Approximately 400 players and coaches will conduct intensive training over 10 days.
Goesan County has prepared various support measures including accommodation, training facilities, and convenience services to maintain optimal conditioning for the training teams. Facility inspections and environmental improvements for training grounds will be conducted.
The initiative aims to revitalize the local economy during the winter tourism off-season. The county pursues recruitment of sports teams across various disciplines. Positive economic effects are expected across accommodation, food service, and local commerce sectors.
