충북경찰청(청장 이종원)이 청소년 사이버 도박 자진신고 기간을 맞아 대면 홍보 캠페인을 시작했다. 자진신고 기간은 2025년 11월 17일부터 2026년 1월 16일까지 운영된다.
충북경찰청은 12월 13일과 20일 양 토요일 청주시 성안길 지하상가 앞에서 캠페인을 진행한다. 청소년들이 가장 많이 모이는 장소를 선택해 도박 자진신고 절차를 설명하는 카드뉴스와 홍보물품을 배포한다.
현장에 설치되는 '청소년 도박 자진신고 홍보 부스'에서는 사이버 도박 VR 체험 프로그램을 운영한다. 도박 중독의 위험성을 직접 체험하도록 구성했다. 도박 문제를 겪는 청소년과 학부모를 위해 경찰 상담관(SPO)이 일대일 상담을 제공한다.
이종원 청장은 "처벌에 대한 두려움으로 신고를 망설이는 청소년들을 위해 경찰이 거리로 나가 손을 내밀기로 했다"고 설명했다.
자진신고 기간 동안 신고한 청소년에 대해서는 선도심사위원회를 통해 훈방과 즉결심판 등으로 감경 조치를 적용한다. 충북경찰청은 전문기관과 연계해 재범 방지와 회복 프로그램을 지원할 계획이다.

Chungbuk Police Agency (Chief Lee Jong-won) launched a face-to-face public awareness campaign coinciding with the youth cyber gambling self-reporting period. The self-reporting period operates from November 17, 2025 to January 16, 2026.
Chungbuk Police Agency conducted the campaign on Saturday, December 13 and 20 at the front of the Seongan-gil underground shopping mall in Cheongju City. The department selected the location where the most youth gather to distribute card news explaining the gambling self-reporting procedure and promotional materials.
The "Youth Gambling Self-Reporting Awareness Booth" established at the site operates a cyber gambling VR experience program. The program is designed for direct experience of the dangers of gambling addiction. Police counselors (SPOs) provide one-on-one counseling for youth and parents facing gambling problems.
Chief Lee Jong-won said, "For youth hesitating to report due to fear of punishment, police decided to go out into the streets and extend a hand."
Youth who report during the self-reporting period receive reduced measures such as probation and summary judgment through the guidance review committee. Chungbuk Police Agency plans to support relapse prevention and recovery programs in cooperation with specialized agencies.
