서산시가 지난 17일 충남도청 상황실에서 고등기술연구원 충남분원 설립 업무협약을 체결했다. 이완섭 서산시장, 전형식 충남도 정무부지사, 김진균 고등기술연구원 원장이 협약서를 교환했다. 이번 협약은 지속가능항공유 산업 육성 및 상용화를 목표로 이뤄졌다.

협약 주요 내용은 고등기술연구원 충남분원 서산 설립, 지속가능항공유 산업 인프라 구축 및 연구개발 사업 육성, 지역 산업 발전과 연계한 협력사업 발굴이다. 고등기술연구원은 1992년 설립된 비영리 자립 연구기관으로 에너지, 환경, 소재부품 등 산업 핵심기술을 연구한다. 국내에서 유일하게 국제 표준 인증 지속가능항공유 생산 기술을 보유했다.

◆ 3000억 원 투자...국가 탄소중립 연계

서산시는 지난 2월 산업통상자원부가 주관하는 지속가능항공유 전주기 통합생산 기술개발 사업 통합 실증설비 구축 지자체로 선정됐다. 이를 통해 약 3000억 원의 외부재원을 확보했다. 고등기술연구원 충남분원은 서산시에 건립될 지속가능항공유 종합실증센터를 운영하며 연구개발과 실증을 담당한다.

The main contents include establishing the Chungnam Branch in Seosan, building sustainable aviation fuel industry infrastructure and fostering research and development projects, and developing cooperative projects linked to regional industrial development. The Advanced Institute of Technology, established in 1992, is a nonprofit independent research institution that conducts research on core industrial technologies including energy, environment, and materials. It holds the only domestically recognized internationally certified sustainable aviation fuel production technology.

◆ 300 Billion Won Investment: Connected to National Carbon Neutrality

Seosan City was selected in February as the local government for constructing integrated demonstration facilities for the sustainable aviation fuel full-cycle integrated production technology development project led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Through this selection, Seosan secured approximately 300 billion won in external funding. The Chungnam Branch of the Advanced Institute of Technology will operate the Comprehensive Sustainable Aviation Fuel Demonstration Center to be built in Seosan and oversee research and commercialization.
