◆ 중부·경부고속도로 확장 예비타당성조사 선정

충북도는 중부고속도로(증평호법), 경부고속도로(회덕청주) 확장 사업이 예비타당성조사 대상 사업으로 신규 선정됐다고 밝혔다. 예비타당성조사는 국민의 세금이 투입되는 대형 사업에 대해 사전에 객관적인 검증을 실시해 재정 낭비를 방지하고 합리적인 재정 운용을 도모하기 위한 제도다. 주로 총사업비 500억 원 이상이며 국가 재정지원이 300억 원 이상인 사업을 대상으로 실시된다.

◆ 교통량·산업물동량 증가로 상시 정체 발생

중부고속도로와 경부고속도로는 개통 이후 지속적으로 교통량이 증가하고 있다. 인접 지역 다수의 산업단지로 인한 산업물동량과 대형 화물차 통행량이 대폭 늘어나 상시 지·정체가 발생하고 있다. 청주공항의 민간공항 기능 확대와 공항 이용객이 지속적으로 증가하는 상황에서 두 고속도로는 중부권 관문공항인 청주공항과의 접근성을 책임지는 핵심 교통축 역할을 하고 있다.

◆ "예타 통과 위해 적극 노력하겠다"

이번 예비타당성조사 대상사업 선정으로 교통 혼잡을 해소하고 증가하는 교통수요에 대응할 수 있는 간선도로망 확충의 계기를 마련했다. 이재덕 충북도 도로과장은 "증평호법, 회덕청주 고속도로 확장사업이 예비타당성조사 대상사업으로 신규 선정된 것은 사업추진 당위성과 도민들의 염원이 반영된 결과"라며 "본격적인 사업추진을 위해 예비타당성조사가 통과될 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Traffic on the Jungbu Expressway and Gyeongbu Expressway has continuously increased since their opening. Industrial freight volume and large truck traffic have significantly increased due to numerous industrial complexes in adjacent areas, causing constant congestion. As Cheongju Airport's civilian airport functions expand and airport users continue to increase, both expressways serve as core transportation axes responsible for accessibility to Cheongju Airport, the gateway airport for the central region.

Lee Jae-deok, Chungbuk Provincial Road Division Chief, stated, "The selection of the Jeungpyeong-Hobeop and Hoedeok-Cheongju expressway expansion projects as new preliminary feasibility study target projects reflects the justification for project implementation and the aspirations of provincial residents," adding, "We will actively work to ensure the preliminary feasibility study passes for full-scale project implementation."
