단양군이 2025년 일반수도사업자 운영관리 실태점검에서 IV그룹(인구 5만 명 미만) 최우수기관으로 선정됐다. 2022년부터 2025년까지 4년 연속 최우수 기관 지정을 확보했다.
기후에너지환경부가 전국 167개 수도사업자(지방상수도 160개, 광역상수도 7개)를 대상으로 실시한 이번 평가에서 단양군이 최고 등급을 획득했다. 평가는 수도법 제23조의 2에 따라 기본평가, 현장평가, 최종평가 등 3단계를 거쳐 진행됐다.
단양군은 정수시설 운영관리, 정수장 기술진단, 수질기준관리, 운영인력 전문성 등 상수도 운영 전 분야에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 정수공정 운영, 정수장 시설개선, 유수율 개선율, 상수도 위기 대응 능력 등 주요 항목에서도 두드러진 성과를 보였다.
단양군은 이번 평가에서 제시된 보완 과제에 대해 위기대응 매뉴얼 기반의 교육 강화, 모의훈련 확대, 기술진단 자료 체계화를 추진할 계획이다.
군 관계자는 "4년 연속 최우수 선정은 군민에게 안전하고 깨끗한 수돗물을 공급하겠다는 의지의 객관적 증명"이라며 "상수도 시설의 체계적 관리와 수질 안정성 강화를 통해 신뢰 기반 수돗물 서비스를 제공하겠다"고 말했다.

Danyang County received top-tier status in the 2025 General Water Service Operator Management and Operations Inspection, securing Group IV (population under 50,000) highest rating. The county has secured consecutive top ratings for four consecutive years from 2022 to 2025.
The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment conducted the evaluation targeting 167 water service operators nationwide (160 local water services, 7 metropolitan water services). Danyang County achieved the highest rating. The evaluation proceeded through three stages—basic assessment, field assessment, and final assessment—in accordance with Article 23-2 of the Water Supply Act.
Danyang County received high evaluations across all water service operations, including water purification facility management, water treatment plant technical diagnosis, water quality standard management, and operational staff expertise. The county demonstrated outstanding performance in key areas including water purification process operations, water treatment plant facility improvements, water loss rate improvement rates, and water supply crisis response capability.
Danyang County plans to address supplementary improvement items identified in the evaluation by strengthening crisis response manual-based education, expanding mock drills, and systematizing technical diagnostic materials.
"Selection as top-rated provider for four consecutive years objectively demonstrates our commitment to supplying safe and clean drinking water to county residents," a county official said, adding "We will provide reliable water service through systematic facility management and enhanced water quality stability."
