◆ 전국배구대회 우수 성과 거둬

세종특별자치시교육청(교육감 권한대행 부교육감 구연희)은 12월 6일부터 7일까지 강원도 홍천에서 개최된 '제3회 교육부장관배 학교스포츠클럽 혼합팀 전국배구대회'에 참가해 금메달 1개, 동메달 2개를 획득했다.

이번 대회는 전국 37팀, 600여 명이 참여했다. 세종시교육청은 공정한 선발 규정과 임원진의 추천을 거친 4개팀(남초부 15명, 여초부 15명, 여중부 15명, 남중부 15명) 총 60명의 학생을 출전시켰다.

◆ 여중부 역전승···0:7서 15:10으로 뒤집다

여중부 우승팀은 결승전 마지막 세트에서 0:7로 뒤진 상황을 15:10으로 뒤집는 역전승을 거둬 주목을 끌었다. 배구 종목 학생선수 배치가 없는 세종시가 순수 일반학생으로만 팀을 구성했음에도 선수층이 풍부한 타 시·도 학생선수팀을 제치고 좋은 성과를 올렸다.

여중부 종목 우승 및 최우수선수(MVP)에 오른 임소현(해밀중) 학생은 "매번 상대팀으로 만나던 학생들과 한 팀이 되어 협력으로 일궈낸 결과라 더욱 의미있다"라고 밝혔다.

◆ '동동동' 사업의 확대 결실

이번 성과는 세종시교육청이 확대 시행 중인 마을단위학교스포츠클럽 '동동동' 사업의 효과로 평가된다. '동동동'은 학교 담장을 넘어 마을을 중심으로 학생들이 함께 운동하며 성장하는 학교스포츠클럽 사업으로, 현재 세종시 관내에는 30개의 '동동동' 중심학교가 운영되고 있다.

구연희 교육감 권한대행은 "이번 대회에서 세종시교육청 학생들이 보여준 활약은 우리가 나아가야 할 학교스포츠클럽의 방향을 제시해 준 좋은 결과"라며 "학생들을 위해 헌신적으로 지도하고 먼 거리 대회 참가까지 인솔해준 학교스포츠클럽 지도교사들에 깊이 감사드린다"고 밝혔다.

한편, 세종시교육청은 지난 8월 상주에서 개최된 '제3회 교육부장관배 학교스포츠클럽 혼합팀 농구대회'에서 금메달 2개(남중부, 남초부), 은메달 1개(여초부)를 획득한 바 있다.

The championship-winning girls' middle school team captured attention by overturning a 0:7 deficit to win 15:10 in the final set of the finals match. Despite Sejong City having no volleyball player placements, the team composed entirely of general students surpassed competing teams from other cities and provinces with abundant player depth and achieved excellent results.

Lim So-hyeon (Haemill Middle School), who won the girls' middle school division championship and Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, said, "The result achieved through cooperation with students I usually faced as opposing teams holds even greater meaning."

◆ Fruition of 'Dong-Dong-Dong' Project Expansion

This achievement is evaluated as the result of the Sejong City Office of Education's expanding 'Dong-Dong-Dong' village-level school sports club project. 'Dong-Dong-Dong' is a school sports club project where students grow and exercise together centered on communities beyond school gates. Currently, 30 'Dong-Dong-Dong' hub schools operate in Sejong City.

Acting Superintendent of Education Gu Yeon-hee stated, "The performance demonstrated by Sejong City Office of Education students at this championship presents a good result that indicates the direction our school sports clubs should pursue," and added, "I extend deep gratitude to school sports club instructors who provided devoted guidance to students and accompanied them to this distant championship."

Meanwhile, the Sejong City Office of Education won 2 gold medals (boys middle school division, boys elementary division) and 1 silver medal (girls elementary division) at the '3rd Ministry of Education Minister's Cup School Sports Club Mixed Team Basketball Championship' held in Sangju in August.
