산척초등학교가 교육부 주관 '2025 농어촌 참 좋은 학교' 공모에 충청북도에서 유일하게 선정됐다. 산척초는 전국 91개 농어촌 지역 학교가 참여한 공모에서 서면심사와 현장심사를 거쳐 15개 선정 학교에 포함됐다.

◆ 시너지 공동교육과정으로 교육 격차 극복

산척초는 인근 학교와 협력하여 시너지 공동교육과정을 운영해왔다. 학교 간 공동체험활동, 학년 단위 주제통합 공동수업, 진로 및 문화예술체험 등을 제공했다. '그림자극장 프로젝트'(4학년), '충주시민으로 자라는 우리'(3학년) 등 학년별 공동수업은 협동, 토의, 탐구 중심의 수업 혁신 모델로 평가받았다. 협력학교와 함께 운영한 인성캠프, 체육대회, 공연 관람, 진로캠프는 학생들의 사회정서역량 향상과 공동체 의식 형성에 기여했다.

◆ 지역사회 연계한 세대 공감 교육 실천

산척초는 마을 어르신과의 세대공감 프로그램을 운영했다. 학생들은 어르신 댁을 방문하여 전통 놀이, 사진 촬영, 전통 음식 만들기를 함께했다. 학생과 어르신이 '꼬마 선생님'과 '어르신 선생님'이 되어 다양한 문화체험 활동을 진행했다. 텃밭 가꾸기, 블루베리 재배, 승마, 문화재 체험 등 지역 자원을 활용한 활동으로 학생들의 환경 감수성과 공동체 의식을 키웠다.

◆ 학교 관계자 입장

산척초 관계자는 "작은학교의 한계를 협력과 연대로 극복한 노력이 인정받은 것으로 기쁘다"며 "앞으로도 시너지형 공동교육과정을 통해 아이들의 배움과 성장을 지원하겠다"고 말했다. 또한 "학생 한 명 한 명이 자신의 꿈을 키워가는 미래지향적인 학교 모델을 만들어가겠다"고 밝혔다.

Sancheok Elementary School was uniquely selected in Chungcheongbuk-do from the Ministry of Education's '2025 Outstanding Rural School' competition. The school was included among 15 selected schools after written and on-site reviews in a competition that involved 91 rural schools nationwide.

◆ Educational Disparity Overcome Through Synergy Collaborative Curriculum

Sancheok Elementary operates a synergy collaborative curriculum in cooperation with neighboring schools. The school provided joint experiential activities between schools, subject-integrated collaborative classes at the grade level, and career and cultural arts experiences. Grade-specific collaborative classes including 'Shadow Theater Project' (4th grade) and 'Growing Up as a Chungju Citizen' (3rd grade) received recognition as innovative teaching models centered on cooperation, discussion, and inquiry. Character-building camps, athletic competitions, performance appreciation, and career camps operated with partner schools contributed to improvements in students' social-emotional competencies and formation of community consciousness.

◆ Intergenerational Education Practice Linked with Local Community

Sancheok Elementary operates an intergenerational empathy program with village elders. Students visited elders' homes and participated together in traditional games, photography, and traditional food preparation. Students and elders served as 'young teachers' and 'elder teachers' while engaging in diverse cultural experiences. Activities utilizing local resources—including garden maintenance, blueberry cultivation, horseback riding, and cultural heritage experiences—fostered students' environmental consciousness and community awareness.

A Sancheok Elementary official stated, "We are pleased that our efforts to overcome the limitations of a small school through cooperation and solidarity have been recognized," and added, "We will continue to support student learning and growth through synergy collaborative curricula." The official further noted, "We will create a future-oriented school model where each individual student cultivates their own dreams."
