◆ 전년 대비 증가, 긴급회의 개최

청주흥덕경찰서(경무관 임종명) 11월 5일 청주시청에서 교통사망사고 예방 합동 간담회 개최했다. 충북 11월 교통사망사고 올해 들어 최다로 집계되면서 지역 차원 긴급 대응책 마련이 필요했기 때문이다. 경찰서는 청주시청·충북도로교통공단·한국교통안전공단·청주흥덕모범운전자회 등 유관기관 참석 확보했다.

◆ 보행자 사고 절반 초과 차지

최근 충북 도내 교통사망사고 전년 대비 크게 증가 추세다. 특히 보행자 사고 비중 절반을 넘으면서 상황 심각성 고조됐다. 간담회 참석자들 사고취약 시간대·지역 분석·고령보행자 보호 대책·신호준수 강화 캠페인·교통안전시설 점검 등 실효적 대책 논의했다.

◆ 현장중심 예방 강화, 연말연시 대비

경무관 임종명 청주흥덕경찰서장 "교통사망사고 단일 기관 노력만으로 감소 어렵다"며 "유관기관과 협력해 사고 위험요인 세밀히 점검하고 현장중심 예방활동 지속해 연말연시 교통안전 확보에 총력 다하겠다"고 발언했다. 경찰서 앞으로 관할 지역 주요 사고지점 중심으로 문제점 재점검, 교통법규 위반 단속 강화, 보행자 보호 홍보 확대 등 선제적 예방활동 이어갈 계획이다.

Meeting participants discussed concrete measures including analysis of accident-prone times and locations, protection strategies for elderly pedestrians, enhanced signal compliance campaigns, and traffic safety facility inspections.

Commander Im Jong-myeong of Cheongju Heungdeok Police Station stated, "Reducing traffic fatalities requires more than single-agency efforts," adding "We will cooperate with related agencies to meticulously inspect accident risk factors and sustain field-centered prevention activities to secure traffic safety during the year-end season." The police station plans to continue proactive prevention activities including re-examination of problem areas at major accident sites within its jurisdiction, strengthened crackdowns on traffic law violations, and expanded public awareness campaigns for pedestrian protection.
