◆ 향후 전망

지난해 정부가 예산안에 해당 사업비를 반영하면서 2026년 상반기 착공과 2030년 개통 목표가 재확인됐다. 천안청주공항 복선전철은 충청권 균형발전의 시금석이다. 2030년 개통 이후 충청권 광역급행철도(CTX), 충북선 고속화, 수도권 내륙선 등 후속 사업이 완성되면 청주공항 중심 광역 교통망이 구축된다. 이성해 국가철도공단 이사장은 "천안청주공항 복선전철 사업은 국가 균형성장을 위한 연계 교통망 구축의 일환"이라며 "안전을 최우선으로 시공해 적기 완공에 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

The government reflected the project budget in last year's budget proposal, reconfirming the goals of construction start in the first half of 2026 and opening in 2030. Cheonan-Cheongju Airport double-track railway serves as a touchstone for balanced development in the Chungcheong region. After 2030 opening, follow-up projects including Chungcheong Regional Express Railway (CTX), Chungbuk Line speedup, and Metropolitan Inland Line will complete the metropolitan transportation network centered on Cheongju Airport. Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of Korea National Railway Corporation, stated, "The Cheonan-Cheongju Airport double-track railway project is part of building connected transportation networks for national balanced growth," adding, "We will do our best to complete the project on time by prioritizing safety in construction."
