◆ 민‧관 대표단 도청 방문, 이전 포함 강력 촉구

제천시와 제천시 공공기관 유치 범시민추진위원회는 9일 충북도청에서 김영환 충북도지사와 면담을 갖고 제2차 공공기관 지방이전에 제천이 포함되도록 건의했다. 김창규 제천시장과 최명현 추진위원장이 참석한 이번 면담에서 제천 대표단은 "시민과 행정이 협력하는 원팀 대응체계"를 강조하며 충북 북부권 균형발전과 제천의 역사적 피해 보상 측면에서 제천 포함의 필요성을 전달했다.

◆ 철도 교통 거점, 우수한 수도권 접근성 강점 제시

김 시장은 "제천은 중앙선·충북선·태백선이 교차하는 중부내륙 철도교통의 중심지"라며 "청량리역까지 1시간 거리에 위치한 수도권 접근성과 충북선 고속화 사업을 통한 도약 가능성을 고려할 때 제천이 공공기관 이전의 최적지"라고 제시했다. 제천의 철도 정비인프라는 전국 최고 수준이며 화물 운송 거점으로 기능하고 있다.

◆ 바이오·천연물 산업 거점 강조...지속적 유치 추진

최 위원장은 "제천은 2010년 제천국제한방바이오엑스포 개최를 시작으로 현재까지 총 3번의 엑스포와 13번의 한방바이오박람회를 개최한 대한민국 바이오·천연물 산업의 중심지"라고 강조했다. 제천시는 제2차 공공기관 지방이전 추진 과정에서 충북도와 긴밀히 협력하며 유치에 총력을 기울일 계획이다.

At this meeting attended by Mayor Kim Chang-gyu and Campaign Committee Chair Choi Myung-hyun, the Jecheon delegation emphasized a "one-team cooperative response system between citizens and administration" and conveyed the necessity of including Jecheon from the perspectives of balanced development in the northern region of Chungcheongbuk-do and compensation for Jecheon's historical disadvantages.

Mayor Kim stated, "Jecheon is a central hub for inland rail transportation where the Jungang Line, Chungbuk Line, and Taebaek Line intersect," and presented that "considering the proximity to Cheongnyangni Station within one hour and the potential for development through the Chungbuk Line high-speed railway project, Jecheon is the optimal location for public institution relocation." Jecheon's railway maintenance infrastructure ranks among the highest nationally and functions as a cargo transportation hub.

◆ Emphasizes Status as Bio and Natural Products Industry Center...Continues Attraction Efforts

Committee Chair Choi emphasized, "Jecheon is a central hub for Korea's bio and natural products industry, having hosted three international expos starting with the Jecheon International Herbal Bio Expo in 2010 and hosting 13 herbal bio exhibitions to date." Jecheon City plans to work closely with Chungcheongbuk-do and make full efforts to attract public institutions in the process of promoting the Second Phase relocation.
