◆ 30년 현안 해결한 신규도로

개설된 도로는 길이 1,742m, 폭 7m 규모다. 총사업비 32억 6천만 원을 투입했다. 당진시는 2012년 확포장 실시설계 시작, 2016년 도시계획도로 결정, 2019년 보완설계, 2021년 도시관리계획 변경 고시 및 보상 착수, 2024년 8월 착공, 11월 준공 등 12년 추진 과정을 거쳤다. 해당 도로는 1992년 농어촌도로 지정 이후 30년 이상 지역 숙원사업으로 남아있었다.

◆ 교통사고·침수 위험 동시 해소

기존 도로는 급커브 구간으로 교통사고 위험이 높았다. 장마철 일부 구간은 침수로 통행이 차단돼 주민 불편이 극심했다. 당진시는 도로 선형을 개량하고 도로 높이를 상향 조정해 침수 취약 구간을 구조적으로 개선했다.

◆ 생활 안전성 강화

도로 개설로 생활권 접근성 향상, 이동 시간 단축, 농촌·도심 간 연계 강화, 응급·긴급 차량 이동성 개선, 보행·교통안전 증진 등 다각적 효과가 예상된다. 오성환 시장은 "이번 도로 개통은 시민 일상 편의와 지역 이동 여건 개선을 위한 사업"이라며 "생활 사회기반시설 확충과 교통 인프라 정비를 계속 추진하겠다"고 밝혔다. 당진시는 개통 이후 도로 구조물 점검, 교통안전시설 보완, 안내 표지 정비 등 사후관리를 진행할 계획이다.

Dangjin City Mayor Oh Seong-hwan held a completion ceremony on the 1st for the urban planning road (Small Road 3-204) connecting Haengjung-dong and Chaewun-dong. Approximately 150 people attended, including the mayor, city and provincial council members, local organization heads, and residents at the Haengjung 2-tong Community Center at 31 Won Haengjung-gil.

◆ New Road Resolves 30-Year Outstanding Issue

The newly opened road measures 1,742 meters in length and 7 meters in width. Total project cost reached 3.26 billion won. Dangjin City completed a 12-year implementation process: starting preliminary design in 2012, making urban planning road decision in 2016, supplementary design in 2019, changing urban management plan and initiating compensation in 2021, beginning construction in August 2024, and completing in November 2024. The road had remained a pending project for over 30 years since its designation as a rural road in 1992.

◆ Simultaneous Resolution of Traffic Accidents and Flooding Risks

The existing road featured sharp curves with high traffic accident risk. During rainy season, partial sections became flooded and blocked from traffic, causing severe resident inconvenience. Dangjin City improved road alignment and raised road elevation to structurally improve flood-vulnerable sections.

◆ Enhanced Community Safety

Road opening is expected to produce multiple effects: improved living area accessibility, shortened travel time, strengthened rural-urban connectivity, improved emergency vehicle mobility, and enhanced pedestrian and traffic safety. Mayor Oh Seong-hwan stated, "This road opening is a project for improving citizens' daily convenience and regional mobility conditions," adding "We will continue to promote expansion of living infrastructure and traffic infrastructure improvements." Dangjin City plans to conduct post-completion maintenance including road structure inspections, traffic safety facility improvements, and directional sign maintenance.
