제천시(시장 신원철)는 2025년 11월 15일부터 2026년 3월 31일까지 4개월간 '겨울철 제설대책 중점 추진기간'을 운영한다고 밝혔다. 폭설과 결빙으로 인한 시민 불편을 최소화하고 안전한 도로 통행 환경을 확보하기 위한 조치다.
◆ 종합상황실 운영으로 선제적 대응 체계 구축
제천시는 추진기간 동안 종합상황실을 24시간 운영한다. 시내 주요 간선도로와 폭설 시 차량통행이 어려운 고갯길, 교량 구간을 우선 대상으로 제설작업을 실시한다. GPS 기반 위치추적 시스템을 도입해 제설이 미흡한 구간을 즉시 확인하고 지시하는 신속한 체계를 갖췄다. 노선별 제설 전담차량을 배치해 체계적 대응을 강화했다.
◆ 제설장비 61개, 자재 11,671톤 확보 완료
제천시는 올해 확보된 제설장비를 완전 장착했다. 덤프트럭 29대, 염수 살수차량 4대, 굴삭기 2대, 제설기 61대, 살포기 59대를 배치했다. 노후 장비(5t, 15t)를 신규 교체했고 읍면동별로 1t 제설기를 추가 보급했다. 제설자재로 소금 10,286톤, 염화칼슘 1,385톤을 확보했으며, 모래주머니를 읍·면·동과 취약지역에 배치 완료했다.
◆ 시민 참여로 겨울길 안전 강화
제천시 건설과 관계자는 "만반의 준비와 신속한 제설작업으로 시민 안전을 확보하겠다"며 "시민들의 자발적 참여가 필요하다"고 당부했다. 시는 시민들에게 집·상가 앞 눈 치우기에 적극 동참할 것을 요청했다.

Obsolete equipment was replaced with new units, and 1-ton snow removal machines were additionally supplied to each township, town, and village office. For snow removal materials, the city secured 10,286 tons of salt and 1,385 tons of calcium chloride, with sandbags deployed to townships, towns, villages, and vulnerable areas.

An official from Jecheon City's Construction Division stated, "We will ensure citizen safety through thorough preparation and rapid snow removal operations," adding that "citizen participation is essential."
