◆ 보은군 공공폐수처리 능력 전국 인정
충북 보은군이 기후에너지환경부의 2025년도 공공폐수처리시설 운영·관리실태 평가에서 우수 지자체로 선정됐다. 25일 발표했다. Ⅲ그룹(일 1,500㎥ 미만) 중 우수 지자체로 이름을 올렸다. 평가는 물환경보전법 제50조에 따라 전국 108개 지자체의 산업단지 및 농공단지에 설치된 공공폐수처리시설을 대상으로 진행됐다.
◆ 폐수 유입률·수질관리 높은 점수 획득
평가는 폐수 유입률, 폐수처리 효율, 탄소중립 실천, 방류수 수질관리, 안전관리 등 운영·관리 분야 15개 항목과 가·감점 18개 항목을 1차 평가했다. 기후에너지환경부 심의위원회의 종합평가를 거쳐 최종 선정됐다. 보은군은 1차 평가에서 폐수 유입률과 오염물질 유입률 등 기본 운영지표에서 높은 점수를 획득했다. 2차 평가에서 안전관리 대응 능력, 방류수 수질기준 준수 및 강화 노력에서 좋은 평가를 받았다.
◆ 2024년에 이어 2년 연속 성과 달성
보은군은 2024년도에도 동일 평가에서 우수 지자체로 선정된 바 있다. 2년 연속 우수 지자체 선정이라는 성과로 공공폐수처리시설 운영관리 능력을 인정받았다. 보은산업단지 공공폐수처리시설은 2018년 7월 준공했으며, 일 850톤 처리 용량을 갖추고 있다. 현재 2단계 증설사업(일 850톤)을 추진 중이며, 2026년 2월 준공 예정이다. 안진수 경제정책실장은 "안정적인 폐수처리에 힘쓰고 활발한 기업 활동을 지원하겠다"고 밝혔다.

◆ Boeun County's Public Wastewater Treatment Capabilities Recognized Nationwide
Boeun County in North Chungcheong Province was selected as an excellent local government in the 2025 public wastewater treatment facility operation and management evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Climate and Environmental Affairs. Announced on the 25th. Selected as an excellent local government in Group III (less than 1,500㎥ per day). The evaluation targeted public wastewater treatment facilities installed in industrial complexes and agricultural-industrial complexes of 108 local governments nationwide under Article 50 of the Water Environment Conservation Act.
◆ High Scores in Wastewater Inflow Rate and Water Quality Management
The evaluation assessed 15 items in the operation and management sector including wastewater inflow rate, wastewater treatment efficiency, carbon neutrality practice, and effluent water quality management, along with 18 bonus and deduction items in the first evaluation. Final selection was made after comprehensive evaluation by the Ministry of Climate and Environmental Affairs Review Committee. Boeun County obtained high scores in basic operational indicators such as wastewater inflow rate and pollutant inflow rate in the first evaluation. In the second evaluation, it received favorable assessments in safety management response capability and efforts to comply with and strengthen effluent water quality standards.
◆ Consecutive Achievement Following 2024
Boeun County was selected as an excellent local government in the same evaluation in 2024. Through the achievement of consecutive selection as an excellent local government for two years, it was recognized for its public wastewater treatment facility operation and management capabilities. Boeun Industrial Complex Public Wastewater Treatment Facility was completed in July 2018 and has a treatment capacity of 850 tons per day. Currently, a second-phase expansion project (850 tons per day) is underway, with completion scheduled for February 2026. An Jin-soo, Director of Economic Policy, stated, "We will focus on stable wastewater treatment and support active business activities."
