◆ 대전 최초 '짱친기관' 인증…의사소통 장벽 해소

동대전도서관은 대전 지역 도서관 중 최초로 보완대체의사소통판(AAC·Augmentative and Alternative Communication)을 설치해 '짱친기관(장애친화기관)'으로 선정됐다. 동대전도서관은 1층 시설안내 데스크와 각 자료실 안내데스크에 AAC를 비치하고 서비스를 제공한다. 보완대체의사소통판은 그림과 글자로 구성된 의사소통 도구다. 발달장애인·외국인·노약자 등 말과 글로 의사소통이 어려운 시민이 손가락으로 그림이나 문자를 가리켜 자신의 의사를 표현할 수 있도록 돕는다.

◆ 밀알복지관과 협력…수차례 수정으로 완성

이번 사업은 '우리 동네 짱친 마을 만들기 프로젝트' 주관기관인 밀알복지관(동구 삼성동 소재)과 동대전도서관이 협력해 추진했다. 발달장애인과 비장애인 시민이 동대전도서관을 직접 방문해 정보 접근성과 의사소통 환경을 점검한 후 의견을 제시했다. 도서관은 이용자가 가장 많이 묻는 책 찾는 방법 등의 내용을 정리하고 수차례 수정과 보완 과정을 거쳐 누구나 이해하기 쉬운 의사소통 안내판을 완성했다.

◆ 도서관 이용 편의 확대…"포용적 환경 조성"

동대전도서관은 보완대체의사소통판을 통해 발달장애인이 도서관 서비스에서 소외되지 않고 책을 쉽게 찾으며 편의시설을 다양하게 이용할 수 있을 것으로 기대했다. 동대전도서관 관계자는 "보완대체의사소통판 제작과 비치는 단순한 편의 제공을 넘어 서로의 다름을 이해하고 함께하는 지역사회를 만드는 첫걸음"이라며 "모두가 편하게 이용할 수 있는 포용적 도서관 환경을 만들어가겠다"고 밝혔다.

◆ Cooperation with Milal Welfare Center...Completed Through Multiple Revisions

The project pursued in cooperation between Daedaejeon Library and Milal Welfare Center (located in Samseong-dong, Dong-gu), the supervising organization of the 'Our Neighborhood Jjangchin Village Creation Project.' Individuals with developmental disabilities and non-disabled citizens directly visited Daedaejeon Library to examine information accessibility and communication environments, then submitted opinions. The library collected the most frequently asked content such as book search methods from users and completed easy-to-understand communication guidance boards through multiple revision and supplementation processes.

◆ Expanded Convenience of Library Use...'Inclusive Environment Creation'

Daedaejeon Library expects that the Augmentative and Alternative Communication Device enables individuals with developmental disabilities to find books easily without exclusion from library services and utilize various convenience facilities. A Daedaejeon Library official stated, "Installation of the Augmentative and Alternative Communication Device goes beyond simple convenience provision as a first step in creating a local community that understands and shares differences," and added "We will create an inclusive library environment where everyone can comfortably use our services."
