◆ 외국인 주민 9만7341명 집계

충북지역 외국인 주민 수가 전체 도민의 5.9%를 차지하는 것으로 나타났다.

12일 충북도에 따르면 지난해 11월 1일 기준 도내 외국인 주민은 모두 9만7341명으로 집계됐다. 전체 도민(164만6328명)의 5.9% 수준이다. 2022년 7만9411명, 2023년 8만9823명 대비 각각 22.5%, 8.3% 증가했다.

국적별로는 중국 1816명, 베트남 1717명, 필리핀 511명, 일본 429명, 태국 381명, 캄보디아 199명, 몽골 133명, 대만 49명 순이다.

◆ 외국인 근로자 2만4432명

유형별로는 외국인 근로자 2만4432명, 외국국적 동포 1만3240명, 외국인주민 자녀 1만1462명, 유학생 7705명, 귀화자 7530명, 결혼이민자 6065명, 기타 2만6907명 등이다.

특히 결혼이민자는 지난 2017년 5005명에서 7년 만에 6000명대에 진입하며 꾸준한 증가세를 보였다. 코로나19로 일시적으로 감소했던 국제결혼 건수는 2020년 이후 다시 오름세로 전환됐다.

◆ 다문화 출생아 비중 5.8%

다문화 출생아 수도 1년 전보다 11.2% 증가했다. 도내 전체 출생아 중 다문화 비중은 5.8%로 꾸준히 늘고 있다.

도 관계자는 "결혼이민자가 도민으로 자리 잡고, 자녀들이 지역사회에서 함께 성장할 수 있는 환경 조성이 중요하다"며 "다문화가정이 충북의 미래를 함께 만들어가는 동반자로 정착하도록 적극 지원하겠다"고 말했다.

충북도는 다문화가족 생활 안정을 위해 시군별 가족센터를 거점으로 한국어 교육, 취업 지원, 통·번역 서비스, 자조 모임 등을 추진하고 있다. 다문화가정 자녀에 대해서도 기초학습, 진로설계, 교육활동비 등을 지원하고 있다.

◆ 97,341 foreign residents counted

The number of foreign residents in the Chungbuk region was found to account for 5.9% of the total provincial population.

According to Chungbuk Province on the 12th, foreign residents in the province totaled 97,341 as of November 1 last year. This represents 5.9% of the total provincial population (1,646,328). This represents increases of 22.5% and 8.3% respectively compared to 79,411 in 2022 and 89,823 in 2023.

By nationality, China has 1,816, Vietnam 1,717, Philippines 511, Japan 429, Thailand 381, Cambodia 199, Mongolia 133, and Taiwan 49.

◆ 24,432 foreign workers

By type, there are 24,432 foreign workers, 13,240 overseas compatriots with foreign nationality, 11,462 children of foreign residents, 7,705 international students, 7,530 naturalized citizens, 6,065 marriage immigrants, and 26,907 others.

In particular, marriage immigrants showed steady growth, entering the 6,000 range after 7 years from 5,005 in 2017. International marriage numbers, which temporarily decreased due to COVID-19, turned upward again after 2020.

◆ Multicultural births account for 5.8%

The number of multicultural births also increased 11.2% from a year ago. The proportion of multicultural births among all births in the province is steadily increasing to 5.8%.

A provincial official stated, "It is important to create an environment where marriage immigrants can settle as provincial residents and their children can grow together in the local community," adding, "We will actively support multicultural families to settle as partners creating Chungbuk's future together."

Chungbuk Province is promoting Korean language education, employment support, interpretation and translation services, and self-help groups centered on family centers in each city and county for the stability of multicultural family life. Support is also provided for multicultural family children including basic learning, career planning, and educational activity expenses.
